Udon

Udon

Today my mum cooked hot Udon.

Because the autumn comes in Japan(begins end of September usually) and climate is getting cooler that before.

I ate Udon for lunch today and tonight. But I still want toeat it tomorrow :p

Udon tastes so simple, so Dashi and ingredients are most important.

I love Udon with chicken and burdock. Have you ever tried it? Recommeded!

Bento

Bento

I ate bento tonight because I was not hungry at the time.

I think I ate too much in Yoshinoya :p

This bento box includes Udon and mini Sushi.

I like Udon as well as Ramen, so I choose this one. There are "save 50 yen" seal on the cap.

So I'm hungry now and will eat much oily foods and beer.

It makes me more fat but I can't help drinking alcholic drink and high choresterol side dish again :(

Ramen

Ramen

As usual, I ate noodle for l;unch today.

Sorry to upload unclear picture, I tested new software in my cellphone. It's unuseful :(

I ate ramen 3 times in a week at my favorite restaurant on lunch, I guess it makes me fat now...

It is so delicious for me, but contains much fat.

Usually, Ramen is configured with noodle and soup. The soup is made of the bones of pork and vegetables. Unfortunately, I think Ramen served in oveaseas are not what I like.

My favorite Ramen is oily, looks dirty, and smell bad(for me, great smell but foreigners says it smells horrible).

That's what my favorite lunch. But I also like other noodle such as Udon and Somen.

"Men" means noodle in Japanese :p

Rei Shabu

Rei Shabu

This is Rei Shabu in Japanese.

Have you ever tried Shabu-shabu in Japanese restaurant?

I think it is one of most popular Japanese traditional cuisine.

It is lightly boiled meats in Shabu-shabu pan on thr dining table, not in kitchen.

So we boil meats by oneself with our chopstics and dip into sauce and take.

I will introduce it on upcoming winter. Japanese love to eat shabu-shabu on winter to make our body warm.

Today we ate REI-shabu. shabu is qoated from Shabu-shabu and REI means cold.

That is made of lettuce and thin sliced pork that is lightly boiled and cold in icing cold water.

That's how Japanese eats shabu-shabu on summer :p

Nama Harumaki

Nama Harumaki

This is our dinner for tonight.

I think you guys have ever tried harumaki in your own country.

It is spring roll in English. Popular as far in Japan.

But, most of spring roll is deepfried in Japan, what I ate tonight is different.

Well, harumaki means spring roll, what "nama" means?

"Nama" means raw in English.

Yes, this is raw-springroll.

As you see in above photos, ingredients are various.

Just roll ingredients you prefer, and dip into sweet sauce and eat them.

I thought it is Thai foods, but according to the package of sauce, it's vietnamese cuisine.

I like it!!

ojiya

ojiya

This is Ojiya. I think it is for guys who have a cold or other sick and being not able to eat ordinary dishes.

ojiya is made of rice, soup, and some begetables. So people who are not good in their phisical condition eats this in Japan.

Because I drunk too much last night and my stomach is not good still now, I asked my mum to cook it.

Simple as is, just pour Japanese dashi soup and steamed rice and other begetables into a pan, boil them for 10 minutes.

Try this when you have hangover.

Miso soup can be use instead of japanese dashi soup if availble. They are good for stomach, we believe ;p

kushi means stick. Katsu means deepfry.

As you see in thr above photo, I prepared a lot of ingredients.

Pumpkins, onion, potatos, diced cheese, chicken and pork. I spent a half day to do it :p

After that just put into batter and deepfry on dining table not kitchen! So we can eat very hot fry up.

Sauce is bulldog tonkatsu sauce as usual :D

It's also one of my favorite side dish for beer!

Yakitori-Don

\yakitori- Don

Well I didn't update blog for a week due to trip of Obon, but I restart blogging from today.

This is Yakitori Don famous in Japan.

Have you ever tried Yakitori?

Yaki means grill or stirfry, Tori means Chicken, so Yakitori means grilld chiken simply. Usually how-to-grill is sticked and grilled on charcol fire.

I made it at home tonight, but I can't prepare charcol and stick. Therefore I used pan and no stick.

Just stirfry till chicken gets gold, and add sauce and stirfry them together for a couple of minutes.

Sauce is made of 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of sugar and 2 tablespoon of soy sauce and water.

Sweet and tasty sauce, one of traditional taste of Japan.

I'm not sure but I guess I like chicken more than beef and pork now :D

I love the texture of chicken thigh :p

Pasta

Pasta

I'm not sure how can I call this pasta.

This is stirfried pasta with garlic, chili, and bacon.

I ate this one for lunch today, I'm so hungry now (7pm in Japan).

Noodles can't make me full for a long time.

This is always one of most popular pasta in Japan, I think it because the ease of the procedure.

I don't need to prepare knife. Just tear ingredients and stirfry with pasta.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

I will leave for a short time trip to my friend's place for about 5 days. I'm not yet sure when I will come back.

After I waste all of my money, I will be back :p)

I'm not sure that I can visit your blog or reply comment. Thank you for your understanding!

This is side dish with beer last night.

It's simple. There are humbulg steak sold in market, we just need to buy them.

Usually, "save 50%" seal are put after 6om. so it costs 50 cents per each.

If you like it, you can grill it and take.

But I prefer this small meat ball rather than humbulg steak.

So I mix all 4 humbulg steak and pug them. Dredge a little bit potato starch and depfry them(not grill).

And then I dip them into soy sauce and Japanese Karashi(mastard) sauce.

Great combination with beer, but it is popular among kids :D

Katsu curry

Katsu curry

Katsu curry is one of most popula dish among Japanese children.

Served together on one plate.

I also loved it in my boyhood too :p but now my stomach can not accept this very oily cuisine :(

I know the curry in India is not as sticly as Japanese curry, in Thai, not sticky at all.

I prefer them rather than Japanese one because I like hot.

We add a large variety of food onto curry rice(curry on the rice).

Tonkatsu is most popular. Deepfried prawn is also.

You can see details of Tonkatsu at this post.

They are perfect combination.

Tonkatsu + Curry + rice = Katsu curry :D

Yakiniku at home

Yakiniku at home

I am so satisfied because I ate Yakiniku just now :D

Usually, we go to Yakiniku restaurant to eat Yakiniku, but I cook Yakiniku by myself at home. Meats are sold in market.

Needless to say, Yakiniku restaurant serves great meats such as Kobe beef and they are much more delicious than meats sold in market, but we can buy standatd meats at market like this

Large variety of meats packed together, good for 3 or 4, and cost just $9!

Because... do you see yellow seal on the plastic cap ??? lol.. it displays "Save 300 yen". yes, it was discounted.

This is what we use for grill meats as yakiniku at home on the table, so we could eat hot meats those are just removed from fire.

Cooking... it's simple :p grill begetables. it will protect your stomach from fat.

Enjoy! Dip into the sauce and eat them!

Take Kimchi if available ;D
